The Tiger

The Tiger (Panthera tigris) is the largest cat species, reaching a total body length of up to 3.38 m (11.1 ft) over curves and exceptionally weighing up to 388.7 kg (857 lb) in the wild. Its most recognisable feature is a pattern of dark vertical stripes on reddish-orange fur with a lighter underside. The species is classified in the genus Panthera with the lion, leopard, jaguar and snow leopard. Tigers are apex predators, primarily preying on ungulates such as deer and bovids. They are territorial and generally solitary but social animals, often requiring large contiguous areas of habitat that support their prey requirements. This, coupled with the fact that they are indigenous to some of the more densely populated places on Earth, has caused significant conflicts with humans.

Tigers once ranged widely across Asia, from Turkey in the west to the eastern coast of Russia. Over the past 100 years, they have lost 93% of their historic range, and have been extirpated from southwest and central Asia, from the islands of Java and Bali, and from large areas of Southeast and Eastern Asia. Today, they range from the Siberian taiga to open grasslands and tropical mangrove swamps. The remaining six tiger subspecies have been classified as endangered by IUCN.

The global population in the wild is estimated to number between 3,062 and 3,948 individuals, down from around 100,000 at the start of the 20th century, with most remaining populations occurring in small pockets isolated from each other, of which about 2,000 exist on the Indian subcontinent. Major reasons for population decline include habitat destruction, habitat fragmentation and poaching. The extent of area occupied by tigers is estimated at less than 1,184,911 km2 (457,497 sq mi), a 41% decline from the area estimated in the mid-1990s.

Tigers are among the most recognisable and popular of the world's charismatic megafauna. They have featured prominently in ancient mythology and folklore, and continue to be depicted in modern films and literature. They appear on many flags, coats of arms, and as mascots for sporting teams. The tiger is the national animal of Bangladesh, India, Vietnam, Malaysia and South Korea.

It is one of twelve constellations conceived in the late sixteenth century byPetrus Plancius from the observations ofPieter Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederick de Houtman. It first appeared on a 1598 celestial globe by Plancius and Jodocus Hondius in Amsterdam and was depicted inJohann Bayer's star atlas Uranometria of 1603. French explorer and astronomerNicolas Louis de Lacaille gave its starsBayer designations in 1756. Tucana is not a prominent constellation as all of its stars are third magnitude or fainter; the brightest isAlpha Tucanae with an apparent visual magnitude of 2.87. Beta Tucanae is a star system with six member stars, while Kappais a quadruple system. Five star systems have been found to have exoplanets to date. The constellation contains most of the Small Magellanic Cloud, along with 47 Tucanae(pictured), one of the brightest globular clusters in the sky. Rodents

Rodents are mammals of the order Rodentia, characterized by two pairs of continuously growing incisors, one pair in the upper and one in the lower jaw. About forty percent of all mammal species are rodents, and they are found in vast numbers on all continents except Antarctica. They are the most diversified mammalian order, including mice, rats, squirrels, prairie dogs, porcupines, beavers, guinea pigs, and hamsters, and can be found in a variety of habitats, including manmade environments. There are arboreal, burrowing, and semi-aquatic species. While the largest species, the capybara, can weigh as much as 66 kg (146 lb), many rodents weigh less than 100 g (3.5 oz) and have robust bodies, short limbs and long tails. They use their sharp incisors to gnaw food, defend themselves, and shape their habitat. Most eat seeds or other plant material. Many species live in societies with complex forms of communication. Rodents can bemonogamous, polygynous, or promiscuous. The rodent fossil record dates back to thePaleocene on the supercontinent ofLaurasia.

Boot Windows 8/Windows 8.1 into safe mode.

The most important part when you encounter a problematic issue with a PC running Windows 8/8.1 is to boot the PC into safe mode. On older Windows versions this was done just by pressing the F8 key, however in Windows 8 the Automatic Repair mode was implemented. Still, there are users (like me) who want to boot into Safe Mode even in Windows 8. How can we achieve that?
It seems that Microsoft has burried this option deep into the recovery option of Windows 8. Pressing the F8 during Windows boot, will boot your computer into automatic recovery mode, but you can still have the recovery options pressing the Shift+F8 key combination.

You have multiple options. You can choose to have the Safe Mode boot into the following:
  • Minimal – this is a normal safe mode
  • Alternate Shell – just a normal safe mode with a command prompt flavor
  • Network – safe mode with networking support.
Active Directory repair option will require you to have a Domain Controller in your network. When you’re done selecting the desired option, click the OK button and your computer will be restarted.
If you restart your PC, it will just boot into Safe Mode until you stop this boot sequence. To do this, open one more time msconfig and uncheck the Safe Boot option. After that press the OK button and finally restart your machine.
